Aqualyx® works by breaking down cell membranes. It liquifies the fat cell, destroying it permanently and releases the lipids that are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.
The procedure consists usually of a course of sessions, administered 4-6 weeks apart, whereby Aqualyx® is injected into the targeted area.
The solution is injected into the fat through a special AQUALYX® cannula (elastic needle for optimal results and comfort) using a unique trained technique- to fan product in fatty layer. Usually 2 injection spots are required per region with the amount of product used differing according to the area of fat being treated. Local anaesthetic is added to the solution to ensure its painless procedure and optimum comfort levels.
Aqualyx® is a non-surgical technique so there is very little downtime. No general anaesthetic/no stitches/no incisions so scarring is very unlikely.
Temporary side effects are; feeling a warm sensation, itching, slight burning, slight oedema and reddening appearance for a few days after treatment. It may feel slightly tender, numb or itchy to touch after a few days. These symptoms are an indication that the treatment is working to dissolve the fat. You may develop bruise(s) but this will improve.
Any area with pinchable stubborn pocket of fat- e.g. double chin, bra fat, love handles, banana rolls (layer of fat between thighs and buttocks), inner legs, tummy, arms etc.
A reduction in fat in the targeted area can be noted after a number of weeks. The rate at which noticeable results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes, age, how big the layer of fat is etc. In smaller pockets of fat, the desired results can already be seen after one treatment! The treatment can also help make cellulite less noticeable.
